Grand Canyon Suite Assignment: This can be bullet points, does not need to be complete sentences.
Write a 30 second introduction for the piece that includes...

  1. 3 facts about the grand canyon
  2. 2 facts about composer Ferde Groff
  3. Some feelings or things you noticed while listening to the piece. What did the music sound like? What instruments did you hear? Was there a picture in your mind about what was happening, or a story that was being told?

March 6th:

John Henry Assignment (due March 10-14)
Write an introduction for the piece that includes... only 30 seconds long

  1. Include two facts about composer Aaron Copland
  2. Include a few details from the "story of John Henry"
  3. Include some feelings or things you noticed while listening to the piece. What did the music sound like? What instruments did you hear? Were there any surprises in the music? What did it sound like? How did the music tell the story?
Remember BE CREATIVE. Draw a picture, make a poster, act out a character (can be fictional), you can think of SOMETHING fun.
