This is for the Donors Choose Fundraising we did for Fourth Grade:
Dear Patricia, Annie and Katy Shamel, Bruce and Alison Van Patter, Jennifer Mathena, Jessica Flores, Ali and Jim Freeman, Barbara Van Patter, Renee Triscila, Shawn Greer, Kia Motors America and Matching Donor,
Thank you so much for the Ukuleles. My students have thoroughly enjoyed using them in class. We just started using them at the beginning of December and so far they have learned to tune and identify the four notes.
I taught them the "All Dogs Have Fleas" little diddy to help them tune collectively during class (which made them laugh.) We started a song called "Ukulele Safari" today, and let me tell you they were over the moon! It is going to be the highlight of fourth grade, playing these little wooden ukes. It's already accelerated their note reading, rhythm, and overall familiarity with the musical scale.
I'm pumped to see where these little instruments take us. Thank you again for the support! We could not have done this without you! The kids eyes popped out of their head when we opened the boxes for the first time. I wish I had taken a picture at the moment because it was priceless.
